The Cinnamon Tree
About This Spot
Stepping into The Cinnamon Tree, you quickly sense a rhythm far removed from the polished calm of a formal dining room. This is a place where the bustling energy of a busy local takeaway hums alongside the warm familiarity of a neighborhood favorite. It’s a setting where the pulse of ringing phones and the steady flow of people collecting their meals weave a lively backdrop to the experience. With a modest number of seats tucked in a cozy corner of Bristol, the restaurant invites those who appreciate good Indian food served without the fuss.
The atmosphere is straightforward and unpretentious—a reflection of its community roots. Amidst the steady comings and goings, the staff offer friendly greetings that make the atmosphere feel inviting despite its practical focus on takeaway. This is not the place to unwind for hours over a leisurely meal, but rather somewhere to appreciate authentic flavors made with care and tradition, ready to be enjoyed either on-site or somewhere more relaxed.
What stands out here is the food’s honest soul. Each dish tells a story of spices drawn from Indian kitchens shaped over generations. From warming, tender curries rich with cardamom and clove to aromatic rice that carries just the right balance of fragrance and texture, every bite speaks of attention to tradition and quality. The offerings cater not only to those who love a meaty curry that melts effortlessly on the tongue but also to anyone in search of familiar comfort in the variety and spice of Indian cuisine. It’s clear that this kitchen respects the roots of its recipes, crafting meals that carry an unmistakable sense of place.
This balance of vibrant flavors and casual conviviality makes The Cinnamon Tree a genuine local gem. Whether stopping by to grab a classic curry for a busy evening or fitting in a quick shared meal with friends, there’s a grounded warmth to the experience here—one that quietly honors both the food and the community it serves.

A down to earth Indian restaurant with a bewilderingly extensive menu. And good value! My lamb Pathia was sublime. The lamb was tender and tasted amazing.

Firstly, food very nice with lovely flavours all round and everything nice and hot. As a restaurant, well, it just isn’t really. It’s a very busy takeaway with constant phones ringing and people turning up and hanging around for their food. Nothing wrong with that but if a relaxing sit down meal is what you are after, this is not that place. I’ll be back for takeaway food for sure but won’t be eating in again. Just too noisy and busy.

Absolutely cracking Indian restaurant and takeaway!!! Lovely food nicely cooked and very friendly staff. If meat is your thing in a curry it's so tender and melt in your mouth it's the best I've had. I'm a lamb man but I suspect the chicken's just as good. Around 30 seats for a sit down and it's a pick-up only for takeaway (no delivery) but worth a drive. There isn't much parking as it's in a residential area but you can find it. One thing I would say is if you want a takeaway to collect on a weekend (Friday/Saturday) prepare for a wait, it's very popular!!! One little side note, visited tonight for a takeaway and received a Christmas card and small prezzie. Only started visting over the last year after recommendation on the 'Nextdoor' app around six times but a very nice touch and much appreciated. Well worth a visit and highly recommended!!! Enjoy!

Lovely curry meal but took a long time to bring to table. Works thing 9 people. Probably because the likes of delveroo pickups. Shame nice reception staff. But crap service from kitchen.

As always had an amazing curry tonight on a very busy new years eve! I always pick something different and it always comes out how I expect it. The garlic chilli masala is always a good go too and is hot enough but brings flavours. A good Indian will always bring pops of different spices, mustard seeds, cardamon, clove etc..... These currys are definitely built from the spices up and always provide the flavours you are looking for. Front of house as professional as they can be especially in high stress situations and are a credit to the restraunt/takeaway. Fantastic place, if you need to wait at any point for a takeaway its worth it in the end.

Fab food! Absolutely loved it. Sat in and experienced the restaurant service. Very affordable feast. This establishment is a hidden gem! Byo makes it even more appealing! (We didn't know that until we arrived, so was a nice surprise). There is a convenience store next door for alcoholic supplies. Works out nicely.
